Branded Monopoly promotions, and what they actually are
Fast food, supermarket and confectionery brands license the Monopoly name for collect-to-win campaigns. Here is the shared format.
Play KirayaA licensed name on a prize draw
The Monopoly brand is licensed to companies that run collect-to-win promotions on their packaging. Fast-food chains, supermarkets and confectionery brands have all run campaigns of this kind in various countries and years; McDonald's is the most widely known, and European grocery and chocolate brands have run their own. Each is operated by that company, under its own rules, in its own markets.
They nearly all share one format
- Buy a participating product and get a sticker, code or token.
- Some pieces are instant wins, claimed immediately.
- The rest belong to sets, and a complete set claims a larger prize.
- One piece in each set is printed in a much smaller quantity than the others.
- Entry without purchase is usually available by post, because many jurisdictions require it.
What they are not
None of these campaigns are the board game. There is no board, no turn order, no rent and no trading with other players. The property names, colours and logo are decoration on a prize draw. Knowing the board game tells you nothing useful about winning one, and winning one tells you nothing about the game.
Check the promoter, not a summary
Rules, dates, territories and prizes differ for every campaign and every country, and they change each year. The promoter's own terms and conditions are the only reliable source. Kiraya is not affiliated with any of these promotions or with Hasbro, and does not run one.
