Hundreds of themed editions exist, from cities to films to book series. What changes between them, and what never does.

Hasbro licenses the Monopoly board to an enormous number of themed editions: cities and universities, football clubs, films, television series, video games and, regularly, whichever book series or franchise is popular that year. New ones appear constantly and older ones go out of print, so any list of "current editions" goes stale within months.
What actually changes
In the large majority of editions, what changes is cosmetic: the names on the squares, the artwork, the tokens, the currency design and the flavour text on the cards. The loop, the colour groups, the rent ladders, the building rules and the win condition are the standard game underneath. Some editions add one light twist, which is usually a card deck with a theme-specific effect or a renamed corner.
Which is worth buying
If you want the themed edition of something you love, buy it for the artwork, because that is what you are buying. If you want a genuinely different game, a themed edition is rarely it: the differences that matter are in house rules and player count, not in which franchise is printed on the squares.
Original boards, same loop
Kiraya's maps take the opposite approach: original boards with their own cities, groups and card decks, built on the same loop so the game is instantly familiar.
