Monopoly GO and the board game are not the same game
Monopoly GO is a mobile dice game. The board game is a trading game. What each one actually asks you to do.
Play KirayaTwo different games sharing a name
Monopoly GO is a mobile game published by Scopely under licence. It takes the board game's look and theme and builds a different kind of game underneath: you spend a replenishing supply of dice rolls to move around boards, collect and upgrade sets, and interact with other players through the game's own systems rather than by negotiating with them. Kiraya is not affiliated with either Monopoly GO, Scopely or Hasbro.
The board game is a negotiation game
The classic board game is short on mechanics and long on decisions. You buy property, charge rent, and try to complete a colour group so you can build on it. Almost everything decisive happens in a conversation: trading for the set you need, deciding what to give up for it, and judging what a rival can afford to pay. The dice only decide where the conversation happens.
Which one you actually want
| If you want… | Look at |
|---|---|
| Short sessions on a phone, progress that persists between them | A mobile game like Monopoly GO |
| Trading and negotiating with real people | The board game, or a browser version of it |
| A game that finishes in one sitting with a winner | The board game |
| To play with friends right now without installing anything | A browser game like Kiraya |
Where Kiraya sits
Kiraya is the second kind: a property-trading board game you open in a browser, with a room link to share, real trading and auctions between players, bots when you are short of people, and a game that ends with a winner in one sitting. No download, no account and no energy meter between you and the next turn.
